Dr. Gayle Fischer, DPT, MPT

Pilates is a form of exercise Joseph H. Pilates developed in the 1920s and 30s.  The premise of his exercises is to utilize special apparatus to improve core strength, flexibility, posture, enhance mental awareness and balance the body.  Pilates exercises also are heavily focused on neuromuscular re-education of the body system.  Meaning, the exercises place emphasis on the mind-body connection and proper breathing, alignment and a conscious contraction of certain muscles versus others.

Pilates is typically utilized by most people as a form of wellness.  Dr. Fischer's certification is a Certified Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation Practitioner.  Combined with her doctorate in physical therapy, she is able to train people in wellness and rehabilitation.  The ability to know how to properly modify all exercises relative to ANY injury, provides patients' with the confidence that they are safe and in good hands.  Also, that means getting patient better, faster, in the safest manner possible!

EVERYONE can benefit from Pilates!  Most people have a weak core and don't know it.  Sitting at a desk all day doesn't help matters.  If you have low back pain, try Pilates versus pain pills!

Dr. Fischer has been a physical therapist in Denver since 2002 and teaching and specializing in Pilates in Denver for over 10 years.
